This Heart Foundation Lottery home in Papamoa offers the best of both worlds

08 Feb 2023

Sea, sand and just a short commute from Tauranga’s centre, are just some of the attributes that Liz Halpin, Heart Foundation Lottery Operations Manager, sees as crucial to the appeal of this location.

This fully furnished Jennian home in popular Papamoa is the perfect escape for coast and city lovers alike, and it is the top prize in the Heart Foundation Lottery No. 139.

As one of Tauranga’s fastest growing suburbs, Papamoa has proven to be a popular area with young families, retirees, and those seeking to join a laidback community. There’s several schools, amenities and weekend activities right on this home’s doorstep, truly something for everyone to enjoy.

“Papamoa is a tried-and-true favourite location with Lottery ticket buyers,” says Liz Halpin. “For decades, it has been a wellliked holiday hotspot, and is quickly becoming somewhere people want to settle for good.”

Near to both Tauranga and Mount Maunganui, this property offers the best of both worlds, with opportunities to work in the city and a come home to a relaxed retreat.

This modern, fully furnished Jennian home has four bedrooms, including two doubles, a single, and a master with ensuite. The open-plan kitchen, living and dining area is filled with plenty of natural light to bounce off the gorgeous Resene Eighth Thorndon Cream walls, with a pair of glass sliding doors leading to a private garden. It’s also equipped with Fisher & Paykel appliances. Whether you’re hosting family or friends, this Papamoa property is sure to charm them all.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to build the Heart Foundation Lottery homes in suburbs like Papamoa, as it gives ticket buyers a chance to claim their spot in one of the fastest growing parts of the country,” says Liz. “And while it offers amazing motorway access, shopping precincts and schools, Papamoa still holds on to its coastal charm and calm ambience.”

The Heart Foundation is grateful to their major sponsor Jennian Homes and long-term established partners and suppliers such as Resene for their continued support of the programme. The Heart Foundation Lottery raises vital funds to stop families losing loved ones to heart disease, which is the single biggest killer of New Zealanders.

Once again, the Heart Foundation worked with Décor Design’s Trace Beaumont Orr in decorating and furnishing this charming home. Here’s what she had to say about this project.

What was your plan for the design of this home?

“I wanted to create a bold interior starting with a dark kitchen to give the house some mood. The wall colours were all Resene Eighth Thorndon Cream which is my go-to winter white. I even have it in my own home!”

What colours did you choose?

“I chose to use Resene Eighth Thorndon Cream throughout the entire home because it’s an excellent canvas to showcase any fabrics, furniture and art you pair it with. It’s definitely my favourite neutral. I wanted it to flow inside from the exterior brick to give it a subtle connection.”

What was your favourite aspect of the design?

“I really liked how the dark floor coverings and kitchen gave this home some grunt. It meant that I could utilise bold art and furniture in the living area, showcasing black, gold and brown as the connecting furniture palette. Then with the bedrooms, I chose soft, earthy furnishings to add more of a fun vibe to this area.”

What was the biggest challenge in this project?

“I enjoy teaming up with the Heart Foundation to work on the Lottery houses, so it’s hard to think of any major challenges. I think you just need to be flexible and change tack if there any supply issues, and not let it throw you off track.”
