Product of the month: Resene Lumbersider

10 Mar 2023

We ask a lot from exterior paint, having to withstand the natural elements all year round. If you’re looking for a low sheen waterborne paint that will stay looking great for years to come, then Resene Lumbersider Low Sheen is the product for you.

As an ideal all-purpose acrylic paint, Resene Lumbersider Low Sheen is designed to deal with the effects of harsh outdoor conditions, such as sunlight, ultraviolet rays, radiation, water and moisture, and drastic temperature changes. It’s also an Environmental Choice approved paint with low VOCs, low odour and easy water cleanup.

Resene Lumbersider Low Sheen is based on a tough waterborne resin to ensure maximum durability in all exposed conditions. It imparts a natural low sheen look that is fully washable, and ideal for use on a wide range of exterior projects and is also popular for landscaping, fences and exterior furniture.  Resene Lumbersider Low Sheen is a very versatile finish and regularly used on everything from commercial to residential projects.  It's so versatile that most Resene testpots are made with Resene Lumbersider Low Sheen.

Resene Lumbersider comes in thousands of Resene colours or can be custom coloured to suit your requirements, including a huge range of Pantone colours, using the Resene Colour Match service, available via your Resene representative or Resene ColorShop.

Waterborne paints are ‘breathable’ and allow water to vaporise escape. This will help prevent paint from cracking and flaking in different weather conditions. Always use high quality paints like Resene Lumbersider Low Sheen, Resene Sonyx 101 semi-gloss or Resene Hi-Glo gloss on weatherboards.

If you are planning to paint in a dark colour, consider choosing Resene Lumbersider CoolColour.

A Resene CoolColour is designed to reflect much more of the sun’s energy than a standard colour, reducing heat build-up and protecting weatherboards and other substrates.

Choose from the Resene range of additives to give extra protection or make the painting easier:

  • If the area being painted is in a shady area, ask for Resene MoulDefender, a mould inhibitor, to be added to your paint for extra protection.
  • When painting in winter or cooler conditions, ask for Resene Wintergrade Additive that will help the paint dry down to 3 degrees.
  • If the paint is drying too fast in the hotter months, add Resene Hot Weather Additive to slow drying and give more time to get a professional finish.
  • When used inside, add Resene Fly Deterrent to deter flies from sitting on painted surfaces. The less flies sit, the fewer and smaller the fly spots.
  • If you’re painting and there is a risk of light showers, add Resene Umbrella Additive for early shower protection. This will help the paint set up a paint film so it doesn’t run off the surface.

Most additives are best used in isolation. Ask your Resene Representative or Resene ColorShop team for the right additive for your project conditions.
