How to make trick or treat tins

These tins will have you under a spell. Tins painted in Resene Black. Wall in Resene Eighth Pearl Lusta, table in Resene White and pumpkin in Resene Ecstasy.

You will need:

  • 2 x large tins (washed and label free)
  • Resene testpots in your choice of colours – Vanessa used Resene Black
  • Paintbrush
  • Black permanent marker
  • Drill
  • Tealight candles

Step 1: Using a black permanent marker, write the words ‘trick’ and ‘treat’ on the two tins

Step 2: Carefully drill small holes along the letters.

Step 3: Paint the tins inside and out using Resene Black

Step 4: Pop in some tealight candles and let them glow!

How to make a creepy crawler

Get caught up in spooky season with DIY spiders painted in Resene Black. Wall in Resene Eighth Pearl Lusta and table in Resene White.

You will need:

  • 14 iceblock sticks
  • Resene testpots in your choice of colour – Vanessa used Resene Black
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue
  • Masking tape

Step 1: Paint the sticks in your desired Resene colours.

Step 2: Gather six popsicle sticks and secure them together longways with strips of masking tape across the back.

Step 3: Glue the eight legs onto the back of the spider body and paint the faces on the front.

Step 4: BluTack the spiders to creepy crawl up the wall!

Tip: You can also make other creatures like ghosts and pumpkins using popsicle sticks in the same way, just switch up the colour and the faces! Tape some string onto the decorations and add wool tassels to create a garland as seen below.

What a fright! This garland is painted in Resene Ecstasy. Wall in Resene Eighth Pearl Lusta, table in Resene White. Vase painted in Resene Black, pumpkin in Resene Ecstasy and bowl in Resene Rice Cake.
